Home Lab
Backlinks: Inventory
See also Data storage.
I have a pretty simple home lab:
Components:
- Switch
- Eero mesh network
- UPS
- Synology
- Macbook Pro 2013
LeverettNET symmetrical gigabit for $60/month is hard to beat.
The synology was a significant upgrade! I had run airflow, various websites and services off of the old macbook running linux (it's still my Tailscale exit node).
Software
- Home Assistant on a VM
- This (along with a HA compatible bulb) was an elaborate solution to having a light above our kitchen table that (the outlet in the ceiling there is not switched!).
- Tailscale
- Airflow
Plexthis felt like ad-ware from the start, gross, uninstalled it.
Software ideas
Stuff I don't actually run, but bookmarking for the future.
- zefhemel/matterless: Self-hosted serverless
- Not active, but a server to host a sort of event-driver personal cloud
- openHAB
- Home automation server
- Dokku (host your own Heroku-like deployment service)

For $169, you can get one put together with a frame. No battery. https://www.invisible-computers.com/
With a JOAN device, seems expensive since you have to buy the Pi too ($400+ total). https://github.com/schwartzie/weather-joan
