Strength Training

My Training History

Strength in Motion

With Corey Parker back in 2007-2008. My real introduction to weight lifting and olympic lifting, I put on 20lbs for basketball in the fall, which maintaining vertical jump and speed. Huge increases in strength, I was eating so much and IIRC got to squat well into the 300's (the lift I was the best at then).

I remember walking in when Corey was finishing training and seeing him take double 45lb plates off the bar with ease, no one watching. Incredible strength.

Catfit

Some light introduction to Crossfit at UVM.

Personal training w Ian

Trained with Ian Marquis, virtually via TrainHeroic app, from mid-Feb 2022 through early 2023. Really really good. Maybe my best training ever. I put on a lot of strength!

ATG

Love everything about it, except actually doing the workouts. They feel good but are weirdly boring? Used the app in Apr/May 2023.

Has it's own page at ATG.

I still do the workouts from time to time.

Stronglifts

Bought the pro yearly late Dec 2023. I really like the app, but it the two times I've really followed along I've gotten injured…

$39.99/year, starting Dec 25, 2023. As of 2025, bought two years now.

The developer fixed a bug I reported quickly, which was cool. He has no real interest in publishing an API.

Crossfit

Crossfit as a sport involves a lot of weight lifting. See Crossfit page.

As of 2025, I'll do drop in Crossfit classes from time to time.

VBT

Velocity Based Training: idea is to track bar speed. Great in-depth overview on Science in Sport. Makes it a bit more like Cycling training with the ability to track power.

Barbell Mate

Cable based system. I have one!

WL Analysis

Uses video. The dev put me on his testflight.
