Mt Washington Road Race   running racereport fitness

Not much to say about the course: there's only one hill. The grade is so steady that you basically peg your HR to Z5 and hang on. Calves hurt early but got used to the effort (didn't slow).

On the way up an old guy with no shirt and a shirt of back hair passed me.

"Hey man, first time?"

"38th", in a gruff voice.

I tried to stick with him, he cut the tangents hard.

Weather was wild at the top. I couldn't have safely summitted in only a singlet and shorts (no gloves, no hat) with knowing there was a blanket at the top for me. I was at the back end of the shorts + singlet crew, knowing I'd have limited exposure time but it was brutal. The wind was ~30MPH and it was 40F and raining. It HURT on the face. Zero visibility up top (couldn't see anyone in front or behind of me).

Age adjusted, 🥈 Clydesdale. First by time. Barely over the weight of 190!
