Hey Nick, I think you're actually the first person to comment on my blog haha so both congrats on that and thanks for reading!

That second attack was pretty poorly executed, I agree, but it was my thought that would be the only chance to attack before coming around to finish while the majority of the field is somewhat tired...but yeah it both wasn't a hard enough attack, on the wrong terrain, and the field was not that tired apparently. I had hoped to avoid a field sprint up that hill by breaking, but yeah that didn't happen and is ironically (well not ironic, but idk what) that in that sprint I ended up going down.

I'm still tending to the road rash, and just got some new handlebars today so hopefully I'll be back for UVA. Being scraped up really sucks...thanks fr the thought though.

Andy - I was with you guys on that second attack attempt. Sitting about 5th wheel, I got to see it unfold pretty well. I think it didn't stick for a couple reasons - we tried to take off on a downhill into a flat, most of the field didn't seem to tired, and most importantly (based on my experience), the guys up front didn't commit. They hesitated long enough to allow the riders in that 3rd row to keep a real gap from opening.

My two cents. Sorry you went down - hope you heal in short order. See you next time.
